Firefighters checked for occupants and fire extension in adjacent units, and remain on scene to overhaul fire damage and sweep water from the building. No patients/injuries reported, no cause determined at this time. Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0569; 10:02AM; 130 E 60th St; https://bit.ly/4qFScnz; Florence; Two-story apartment in the rear of this property, with smoke showing upon fire department arrival and reports of persons trapped. Firefighters immediately rescued three people from the second floor and then coordinated roof ventilation and interior fire attack on the first and second floors. Knockdown on both floors complete in 14 minutes with 33 firefighters working on scene. Paramedics are assessing the three rescued patients, all reportedly in fair condition. Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#1336; 05:44PM; 5411 S Vermont Av; https://bit.ly/3WH6wi6; Vermont-Slauson; Two-story commercial building with heavy fire showing from the first floor upon LAFD arrival. Firefighters quickly forced access to the interior and went to the roof of the structure, coordinating fire attack and declaring knockdown in 31 minutes. Fire companies spent extensive time chasing fire in the walls of the structure, and now remain onscene to overhaul the damage. LAFD HazMat specialists have been requested; LADWP, LADOT, and the gas company will handle traffic and utility management.
