The first 24 firefighters quickly extinguished the flames in 11 minutes (10:03pm) from the time the 9-1-1 call was placed. No reported injuries. CONCLUDED Earthquake Mode; INC#1002; 02:35PM; Citywide; The Los Angeles Fire Department has completed a citywide survey of critical infrastructure across the City of Los Angeles following a magnitude 4.3 earthquake that occurred at 1:49 PM PDT today, centered in Corona, 38 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. No significant damage was identified and no serious injuries have been reported. Though additional earthquake activity cannot be predicted, firefighters remind you that when shaking starts: Drop, Cover, Hold On! Protect your head and neck while taking cover under sturdy furniture or near a sturdy interior wall, away from windows and doorways until the shaking stops. After you complete a final survey of your home and neighborhood for earthquake damage, and to confirm no one is injured, please take this time to examine and update your disaster supply kit and discuss your household and workplace disaster plans. Earthquake Mode; INC#1002; 01:51PM; Citywide; A preliminary magnitude 4.3 earthquake occurred at 1:49 PM PDT, centered in Corona, California, 38 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. Pursuant to protocol, the LAFD is now in earthquake mode, as personnel from all 106 neighborhood fire stations conduct a strategic survey by land, air and sea of their districts, examining critical infrastructure and areas of local concern across our 470 square mile City of Los Angeles jurisdiction. Once this process is complete and reports are consolidated, assuming there is no significant damage, LAFD Earthquake Mode will be complete. This process typically takes less than one hour. There are currently no initial reports of structural damage or injuries. An update will be provided once LAFD Earthquake Mode is complete. Though no additional earthquake activity is predicted, firefighters ask you to prepare for any aftershock. If inside when shaking starts: Drop, Cover, Hold On! Protect your head and neck while taking cover under sturdy furniture or near a sturdy interior wall, away from windows and doorways until the shaking stops. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0903; 01:18PM; 6439 N Lankershim Bl; https://bit.ly/4aVtAPF; #NorthHollywood; Firefighters forced entry into the one-story former restaurant to extend hose lines toward the seat of the fire inside. Crews on the roof cut holes to allow smoke and heat to escape, and increase visibility for fire attack teams inside. Ultimately, it took 26 firefighters 17 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Update COMPLETE Train vs Bus; INC#0749; 02:20PM; 901 W Exposition Bl; https://bit.ly/3y787o1; #ExpositionPark; In close coordination with local hospitals, LAPD, MTA, and USC, firefighters and paramedics evaluated and treated at least 55 people as a result of the train/bus collision. Totals: 2 were transported in serious condition. 16 were transported in fair condition. At least 37 were treated and released on scene. No entrapment. No children or juveniles transported. Unknown occupations/affiliations of patients. Two from the bus (not trapped) were transported in moderate-to-serious condition (unknown total bus occupants at the time of the collision). At least fourteen additional patients from the train were evaluated on scene with minor injuries (total hospital transports will be updated at a later time). KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0462; 09:31AM; 19800 W Marilla St; https://bit.ly/3QkEqGj; #Chatsworth; Firefighters responded to a 2,932 square-foot two-story home built in 1958 with heavy fire inside. Crews advanced hose lines to the interior, while others ascended ladders to the roof to cut holes for the smoke and hot gasses to escape. It took 32 firefighters 20 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. One resident was home at the time, and sustained minor-to-moderate smoke inhalation while attempting to subdue the flames prior to LAFD arrival. Paramedics transported the approximately 55-year-old male to a local hospital. No firefighter injuries.
