The fire was contained to less than one acre with no structures damaged. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0789; 12:14PM; 441 N Virgil Av; https://bit.ly/4ufsqs7; East Hollywood; Knockdown declared in 23 minutes. 40 firefighters extinguished the fire amongst multiple palm trees and threatened an apartment building. Further investigation confirmed the apartment building did not sustain fire damage but activated fire sprinklers on the 3rd floor. Firefighters are conducting a water sweep inside the building and mopping up hot spots outside. There are no reported injuries. Update PHYSICAL RESCUE; INC#0531; 09:39AM; Nb 5 Fy; https://bit.ly/4aV7Rtw; Boyle Heights; The patient is extricated from the truck and being evaluated by firefighter/paramedics. The concrete truck is over the k-rail and is not secure. It is threatening the 10 Freeway and train tracks below, which have been shut down for the duration. The truck is loaded and spilling concrete. LAFD Heavy Rescue and Urban Search and Rescue specialized units are on scene to evaluate and determine safest way to secure the truck to mitigate the immediate fall hazard. Private contractors will handle the moving/uprighting of the truck. Drivers are HIGHLY advised to plan ahead for alternate routes as this will be an extended operation.
