After further assessment, HazMat units confirm this was an accidental release of pepper spray at Panorama High School. 28 patients are being assessed as they shelter in place in their classroom. All patients are in good/fair/stable condition and there is no ongoing threat. LAFD immediately requested all lanes of the WB and EB lanes of the 118 fwy be shut down by CHP. Unfortunately, the patient did complete their jump and is being transported to a local hospital in unknown condition. The river, at this juncture, is a vertical channel with an approximate flow rate of 30mph at an approximate depth of 4 feet. The patient is confirmed to be static on a dry island out of the water. LAFD Air Operations completed a hoist operation successfully rescuing the stranded male and transported him to a local hospital for hypothermia symptoms. No injuries to LAFD personnel reported.
