Additional crews were assigned, and the first arriving 20 LAFD personnel had the flames fully extinguished at 2:50 AM. In searching the premises, LAFD responders discovered two persons, one male and one female (age and affiliation yet to be determined), as well as a pet cat, had perished in the flames. No other injuries were reported. Fire cause under active investigation. It is not a trench nor confined space rescue. Firefighters are preparing for a litter basket operation using the aerial ladder truck to safely secure the patient and bring him to surface level for ground transport. The incident will scale down with a number of units being released and canceled enroute.
