Crews contained the fire to the room of origin in the structure. The fire extended into the common attic space and was burning east from the end unit towards Whitsett. Firefighters located and stopped the fire from extending into the adjoined units. Whitsett Ave is closed to traffic between Archwood St and Kittridge St - drivers are asked to avoid the area. Cause and $ loss TBD. KNOCKDOWN Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#0085; 02:30AM; 255 S Reno St; https://bit.ly/3MMV5P7; #Westlake; Over 150 firefighters responded to the blaze, which began in a vacant two-story home, and spread to apartment buildings on either side (addresses 245 and 259 S Reno St). It took firefighters 73 minutes to extinguish the flames in all three structures. While, thankfully, only one patient was treated for minor smoke inhalation (no transport), residents from approximately 56 units will be displaced. Our partners at the American Red Cross will be assisting these families during this time. No other injuries. It took 24 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries.
