Firefighters coordinated fire attack from the roof and interior simultaneously, achieving knockdown of a fire in the building's elevator room in 19 minutes with 36 firefighters on scene. Building reportedly vacant -- no occupants or injuries reported. [UPDATED] Grass Fire - Forward Progress Stopped; INC#1141; 04:38PM; 1 Howard Hughes Py; https://bit.ly/4njVH09; Westchester; Approximately 200' x 100' patch of grass and trees burning just off the 405 freeway, near the Howard Hughes Parkway exit. CHP is closing the southbound exit ramp while LAFD firefighters handle the grass. Active flames have been knocked down, but companies will remain on scene for full mop-up and containment of the burned area. No injuries reported. Upon fire department arrival, one patient was still trapped and required extrication. Three total patients have been transported -- two in at least serious condition, and one in fair condition.
