The two occupants of the vehicle were deceased prior to LAFD arriving on scene. The auto fire has been extinguished and firefighters will remain on scene to assist with extrication needs, working with LAPD and the Coroner. Unknown age/gender/affiliation/circumstances. Update CONTAINED Brush Fire; INC#0887; 04:43PM; 17325 W Signature Dr; https://bit.ly/2BBSs2N; Granada Hills; With water drops from LAFD Air Ops, firefighters anchored the heel of the fire (used water or fuel removal to keep the fire from backing away from the ignition point), flanked up both sides (laying down hose and extinguishing the sides of the fire), and then pinched (hose lines met around the other side, extinguishing the final advancing flames at the head of the fire). It took 70 LAFD firefighters and #LAFDCrew3 58 minutes to extinguish the active flames, which after further survey, proved to be 1.3 acres total. Crews will remain on scene approximately 2 hours to "mop up" the remaining hot spots and smoldering material within the burn footprint. Firefighters skillfully protected nearby homes in the nearby neighborhood. No reported injuries. Rapidly adding companies to the assignment (to make it a Greater Alarm), and a quick and aggressive fire attack contributed to the short duration of the fire. Firefighters protected nearby structures. No reported injuries. Structure Fire; INC#0214; 05:32AM; 607 N Alvarado St; https://bit.ly/2CnrFYu; Echo Park; LAFD sent 60 firefighters to the one-story metal-clad commercial building with fire in densely packed storage and (what appeared to be) hazardous materials inside. It took 28 minutes to extinguish the flames within the contents of the building, however a double roof concealed flames within the structural members, which continued to put out pressurized smoke after the contents were extinguished. Firefighters continued working to expose the void space and get water on the fire. Overall, it took firefighters 49 minutes (6:21 AM) to completely extinguish all areas of the building. No reported injuries.
