KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0554; 10:10AM; 112 W 5th St; https://bit.ly/3vtI6Mb; Downtown; KNOCKDOWN: 22 minutes after receiving the alarm, the first engine company on scene ascended the stairwell to the 11th floor. They located a contents fire, held in check by fire sprinklers, and fully extinguished the fire ensuring it was contained to one unit. The hallway is clear of smoke and no evacuation is required. There is some residual water on the 10th and 11th floors and firefighters are taking equipment up to conduct a water removal operation. One patient (age/gender unknown) is being evaluated for possible smoke inhalation. Structure Fire - High Rise; INC#0554; 09:48AM; 100 E 5th St; https://bit.ly/3XuXjIE; Downtown; 13 story residential high rise building with moderate smoke showing (and confirmed smoke alarm activation) from one unit on (approximately) the 11th floor. Firefighters are in a "High Rise" offensive operation with the first truck company initiating lobby operations and the engine ascending the stairwell. Structure Fire - Fatality 11/22/2022 INC#1174

Structure Fire - Fatality; INC#1174; 04:04PM; 540 W 88th Pl; https://bit.ly/3AFTmal; #VermontVista; Twenty-two LAFD firefighters responded to find a detached garage on fire. The small detached structure contained excessive storage and had been converted to a living space. Firefighters extinguished the flames in 17 minutes (4:21pm) from the time of alarm. Sadly, one adult female was found deceased inside the structure. Cause under active investigation. Update #LongBeachFire Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#0159; 03:40PM; 1456 S Long Beach Av; https://bit.ly/3UQnOGY; #Downtown; LAFD Firefighters and Investigators have remained at the scene of this fire through the morning and afternoon, cooling large volumes of smoldering debris while continuing to seek a definitive cause of the fire. Shortly after noon today, the remains of an adult male (unknown site affiliation / circumstances) were discovered in the rubble. An LAFD Human Remains Detection Canine Team systematically searched the site, and found no immediate indication that additional deceased persons might be on site. A positive identification of the decedent, as well as the cause, time and manner of their death, will be determined by the Coroner. Knockdown - #LongBeachFire Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#0159; 03:57AM; 1456 S Long Beach Av; https://bit.ly/3UQnOGY; #Downtown; 106 LAFD Firefighters took less than 90 minutes in well-coordinated defensive operations to access, confine and extinguish a fully involved 100' x 100' one-story commercial building, the scene of a previous fire, as well as flames that extended to involve combustible contents at an adjacent pallet yard. LAFD crews were able to prevent fire from damaging two nearby commercial structures. One Firefighter sustained a non-life threatening burn injury at the height of the battle, and has been taken to an area hospital in fair condition. No other injuries reported. With 101 LAFD Firefighter assigned in well-coordinated defensive operations, this incident has escalated to Major Emergency status, and is formally known as the "Long Beach Fire". Firefighters continue to battle flames in a fully involved 100' x 100' one-story commercial building, the scene of a previous fire. Knockdown #PenroseFire Major Emergency Fire; INC#1522; 10:12PM; 11200 W Penrose St; https://bit.ly/3VeIKar; #SunValley; *Addresses Remain Tentative* 165 LAFD Firefighters responding by ground and air, assisted by units from neighboring Burbank and Glendale FD's, took just two-and-one-half-hours of well-coordinated defensive operations against wind-driven fire, to extinguish nearly two acres of flaming vegetation, and a pair of large (total 50' x 425') adjoining metal-clad one story businesses (an automotive repair and salvage facility, and a neighboring cabinet firm) abutting the northbound Golden State (I-5) Freeway, each of which was heavily damaged. No injuries were reported. All freeway lanes are now open.
