A house fire claimed the life of one person in the early morning hours of February 4, 2026. At 2:55 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1760 North Vista Del Mar Avenue, near West Yucca Street.
Upon arrival, first-in companies encountered a well-involved, single-story dwelling, with heavy fire visible. Firefighters initiated fire attack operations and quickly knocked down enough fire to allow crews to enter the structure and conduct a primary search.
During search operations, two victims were located inside the residence and removed by firefighters. The first victim -- initially identified as an approximately 15-year-old female, but later confirmed to be an elderly female -- was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim, an approximately 70-year-old female, was transported to a local hospital in grave condition following effective CPR.
The fire was knocked down in approximately 19 minutes, with 43 firefighters on scene working to extinguish the blaze, search the structure, and protect surrounding exposures. No firefighter injuries were reported.
Per protocol for fatality fires, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner and LAFD Arson are assisting with investigation into the cause of the blaze. The status of any smoke alarms in the home prior to the fire is not yet known.
The Los Angeles Department of Transportation and the Los Angeles Police Department (Hollywood Division) are providing traffic control during the investigation and overhaul, which are expected to last several hours.
