One Dead, One Injured in Early Morning House Fire
Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department transported two victims and contained a structure fire at a single-family home in the Beverly Grove neighborhood early Tuesday morning.
The 911 call, received at 4:03 a.m. on February 24, 2026, reported a fire at 812 N. Crescent Heights Boulevard, near Willoughby Avenue. LAFD crews arrived on scene within five minutes to find a one-story home with smoke showing.
An 85-year-old woman in fair condition had escaped the home and was able to tell firefighters there was another victim trapped inside; crews immediately launched an offensive fire attack while simultaneously conducting a search of the structure and ventilating the roof to release heat and smoke. After overcoming extensive access challenges, crews rescued an approximately 85-year-old male in grave condition. Both patients were rushed to local hospitals by LAFD paramedics; tragically, the latter succumbed to his injuries after arrival.
The fire was brought under control in 42 minutes with 54 firefighters working on scene. No fire cause has yet been identified -- LAFD Arson investigators and LAPD were requested to respond to the scene per protocol.
