Media Advisory: Press Conference On Potential Drone Safety Regulations
LAFD joins federal and city leaders to discuss fire safety and potential drone safety regulations.
Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Chief Ralph Terrazas will join Rep. Adam Schiff (CA-28), City Council President Herb J. Wesson, Jr. and Councilmember Mitchell Englander to discuss how firefighters can continue protecting lives and property in the face of an increasing number of unmanned aircraft systems, a.k.a. drones
Rep. Schiff is exploring all avenues to address this problem and wrote recently to the Federal Aviation Administration on how best to "prohibit this dangerous and irresponsible use of civilian drones, which have already endangered the lives of civilians and firefighters." Council President Wesson and Councilmember Englander last week introduced a motion directing city agencies to responsibly regulate the use of drones.
