LAFD Arson/Counter-Terrorism Section Arrests Suspected Serial Arsonist in Joint Investigation with LAPD and ATF
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Fire Department's Arson/Counter-Terrorism Section, in
partnership with the Los Angeles Police Department's Major Crimes Division and the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), has announced the arrest of a suspect
believed to be responsible for no fewer than five significant fires across the Los Angeles area.
The joint investigation, which brought together local, state, and federal law enforcement
resources, resulted in the apprehension of a suspect whose alleged actions placed both
civilians and firefighters at serious risk. At least one of the fires is expected to be prosecuted at
the federal level through the United States Attorney's Office.
"Serial arson puts lives at risk on both sides of the fire line. This arrest is the product of
disciplined, coordinated work across the LAFD, LAPD and ATF,” said Stephanie Bishop, LAFD
Spokesperson “It reflects our shared commitment to holding those who endanger our
communities and our firefighters fully accountable."
The investigation remains active. Additional details regarding the specific incidents, charges,
and the identity of the suspect will be released as authorized by prosecuting authorities and
consistent with the integrity of ongoing proceedings.
