Hyde Park Fatality Fire

With heavy fire showing and reports of a trapped person, firefighters made entry, located the patient and provided intensive life-saving care enroute to the hospital. Sadly, the patient succumbed to his injuries.
At 6:55PM on March 8, 2025 the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 7000 block of S 4th Ave in the Hyde Park neighborhood.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire showing from a one-story, single family dwelling. Crews got reports of a person possibly trapped inside and made an aggressive interior fire attack while conducting a thorough search of the home. Firefighters located an approximately 50 year old man, unconscious with significant burn injuries.
Firefighter/Paramedics provided life-saving care while rapidly transporting the gravely injured patient to the trauma center. Unfortunately, despite the their best efforts and the work of the staff at the emergency room, the patient did not survive.
A 33 year old, male LAFD firefighter also sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Per protocol, LAFD Arson and Counter-Terrorism Section (ACTS) responded and are conducting an active investigation.
