Firefighters engaged in defensive firefighting operations (from the exterior only) with large-diameter hose lines. After knocking back the flames, firefighters transitioned interior to an offensive attack to finish off the hard-to-reach areas and remaining hot spots. It took 45 firefighters 54 minutes to extinguish the flames, while successfully protecting neighboring buildings. No reported injuries. Firefighters coordinated an interior attack with rooftop ventilation to confine the fire to the living space and attic of the unit-of-origin (damage to only one of the two occupancies within the duplex). The occupants appeared to be gone at the time of the fire. No reported injuries.
