Hiker Rescue - Hoist Op; INC#1170; 04:24PM; Graveyard Rd; https://bit.ly/47QcvV2; Tujunga; LAFD Air Operations worked in close coordination with the call taker from Metro Fire Communications on the phone with the reporting party to help guide them to the hiker's location far up the hillside, near the top of a ridge. LAFD Air Ops lowered a rescuer to evaluate the patient and determined a hoist operation was appropriate. The operation is underway and the adult male will be transported to the hospital with non-life threatening fall related injuries. The original 9-1-1 call was received at 3:42PM. Update Structure Fire - with injuries; INC#0144; 06:26AM; 1585 E Vernon Av; https://bit.ly/3sJ9FTe; Central-Alameda; There are currently a total of three patients with two transported: 66yo M and 64yo F (from an exposed building) were transported with serious burn injuries, 30yo M was evaluated on scene and declined LAFD hospital transport. A total of seven buildings were impacted by fire with five of them deemed a total loss. The count for residents unable to be return to their homes due to damage is 17. American Red Cross and the LA City Emergency Management Department are providing immediate assistance. KNOCKDOWN Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#0144; 04:43AM; 1585 E Vernon St; https://bit.ly/3RjsBBg; #CentralAlameda #VernonFire; *Corrected Address* Over 140 LAFD Firefighters responded, with assistance from neighboring LA County FD crews, and extinguished the fire in 1 hour and 18 minutes. Firefighters found a multi-family residential building in the framing stages of construction at the center of the blaze. Crews went to work, getting water on the fire, defending neighboring homes, and evacuating residents in the surrounding area, as they navigated wires down from fire-damaged utility poles. The total number of people who were temporarily displaced is still yet-to-be tallied, but families will be able to get back to their homes later this morning. A small number of neighboring structures sustained partial mostly-exterior damage. A further report will be available at LAFD.org/news later today. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries.
