Firefighters conducted vertical ventilation and coordinated hand lines working from above and below the attic while additional units performed salvage operations to protect the belongings in the home. Their actions contained the fire to the attic, preventing it from spreading down into the living space. There were no other structures exposed or damaged. Cause and $ loss TBD. Fire spread to the nearby grass and consumed approximately 1.5 acres. This area is fully contained by the surrounding roads, and there are no structures or personal property threatened. It took 22 firefighters 43 minutes (12:58pm) to locate, establish a water supply to the freeway location, and extinguish the burning dry grass on the shoulder at the interchange.
