Buildings in this phase of construction are vulnerable and fire can spread rapidly, consuming the structure. No injuries reported. There were workers present and incident command will investigate for cause. Firefighters are setting up to conduct a litter basket operation (litter basket lowered via rope system from the end of the aerial ladder) to bring the patient back to street level for transport to the hospital in fair condition. The 9-1-1 call was received at 12:34PM. Hiker Rescue - FATALITY 06/02/2023 INC#0354

Hiker Rescue - FATALITY; INC#0354; 08:42AM; 2698 N Commonwealth Ave; https://bit.ly/3MJ6YqF; Griffith Park; Firefighters located an approximately 50 yo male patient who appears to have been riding a bicycle when he went into severe medical distress. Firefighter/Paramedics provided intensive, advanced life-saving care coordinated with the base hospital. Sadly, he was beyond medical help and was pronounced dead on scene. LAPD Inc #1140 is responding for the investigation (per protocol). "Base Hospital" = one of a limited number of hospitals which is responsible for directing the advanced life support system or limited advanced life support system and prehospital care system assigned to it by the local EMS agency. Hiker Rescue; INC#0564; 11:12AM; 3024 N Runyon Canyon Rd; https://bit.ly/3ouyD6F; #HollywoodHillsWest; Firefighters located a 39-year-old hiker and his dog, who were stranded part way up a steep ravine in the Runyon Canyon area. LAFD set up a 600-foot two-line rope system and performed a low-angle rope rescue to help the man and his "best friend" down to safer ground. Firefighter-Paramedics performed a medical assessment and found no injury or illness, therefore, no hospital transport was needed. LAFD Air Ops hoisted her and brought her to a nearby helispot, where she received a medical assessment by LAFD Firefighter-Paramedics and then assisted with getting back to her vehicle.
