Update Structure Fire; INC#0829; 01:23PM; 6015 W Sunset Bl; http://bit.ly/2MLVxlu; Hollywood; Firefighters engaged in an offensive (interior) fire attack and encountered heavy fire on the first and second floors of a two-story building, with electrical wires down in the rear, posing an additional hazard. A primary search revealed no occupants in the structure. Firefighters withdrew from inside the structure and from the roof to continue fighting the fire with a defensive posture (from the exterior of the building). As the flames are knocked back, firefighters will resume interior operations to finalize extinguishment. After hearing witness statements, suspect statements, and investigating physical evidence on scene, the LAFD Arson/Counter Terrorism Section has developed probable cause and the suspect is being booked for 451(c) - Arson of Forest Land. The case will be presented to the DA for felony filing considerations. LAFD held the fire to less than 1/2-acre of light-medium brush. Firefighters overcame water supply challenges, as they found some hydrants that were dry. LAFD Crew 3, an all volunteer wildland cadet post managed by LAFD firefighters, responded to assist with the overhaul of the brush-covered hill. No reported injuries. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0648; 12:15PM; 745 N Toyopa Dr; http://bit.ly/2zgzOcB; Pacific Palisades; The first 16 firefighters to arrive extinguished fire in a fully-involved laundry room inside of a two-story home in just 13 minutes, before it was able to spread anywhere else in the fire. Firefighters used a small ladder designed for interior use (commonly referred to as a "baby" ladder, which is narrow enough to fit into the scuttle hole) to verify that the fire had not gotten into the attic.
