LAFD Heavy Rescue 3 and USAR 88 worked together with firefighters on scene to free the patient from the wreckage. While equipment was being set up, firefighter paramedics got a head start on patient care to expedite transport once he was free. Update NOW OUT Fire; INC#0516; 10:30AM; 14445 W Olive View Dr; http://bit.ly/2Nu0j32; Sylmar; Fire was discovered in a biohazard cylinder (sterilized prior to storage) inside of a concrete storage building outside of Olive View Hospital. Automatic sprinkler activation helped contain the flames. Firefighters extinguished the fire and went through a technical decontamination process afterward. Static situation, no public hazard. LAFD HAZMAT Squad on scene to continue evaluating the conditions. LA County Watershed notified. Firefighters located a contents-only (no structure involvement) fire in one unit of a four-story (three floors over parking) and quickly extinguished the flames, preventing spread to other rooms/units. Crews ventilated the apartment building with blowers to remove the smoke from inside of the structure. No reported injuries.
