Fatality Fire; INC#0233; 04:58AM; 613 N Hagar St; https://bit.ly/3wHCSvS; City of San Fernando; PRELIM: LAFD Firefighters arrived quickly to find a recreational vehicle parked in the rear yard of a single family home well involved with fire, the intense flames threatening an adjacent garage converted to living quarters, and a 15' x 15' tool shed. Three persons in the converted garage were able to escape unharmed. Firefighters also prevented flames from damaging the primary occupied home on the property. In fully extinguishing the burning RV (5:23 AM), firefighters discovered the remains of an adult male within the vehicle. No other injuries were reported. LAFD Investigators have been joined by San Fernando Police Department detectives in a methodical fire cause investigation. There were no injuries reported to either firefighters or occupants. The fire appears to have originated in the attic but a full investigation is underway. Row of two-story townhomes with the fire impacting four units. The fire in the unit of origin extended laterally to three units and up into the attic. The fourth unit had less fire damage but was affected by water and smoke. All occupants were reported to be out of the units prior to LAFD arrival. The number of occupants displaced is not known at this time. The Red Cross was notified to help provide for any immediate needs. The cause and $ loss TBD. KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#1686; 09:59PM; 10322 N Sherman Grove Av; https://bit.ly/403PXNy; #Sunland; Firefighters arrived to find a single-family home with fire showing from the attached garage (exposing the neighboring home to flames) and a 16-year-old male outside with burns and injuries who was transported immediately in serious condition. Firefighters began the incident in a defensive posture, as there were reports of propane cannisters on site. After knocking back the initial heat and flames, firefighters made entry for interior fire attack on the fire unit, while others battled flames on the neighboring structure (keeping damage to the exterior surface only). The majority of the fire damage to the home was to the attached garage and attic. Ultimately, it took 77 firefighters 43 minutes to extinguish the blaze. One other patient was transported in fair condition.
