It took 49 firefighters 21 minutes (2:05am) to extinguish the flames, and limit the damage to the nearby commercial building. Flames spread to the home on the adjacent property to the rear, but firefighters quickly extinguished the flames to limit the damage to the exposed home. It took 30 firefighters 20 minutes to fully extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Grass Fire - Now Out; INC#0763; 12:15PM; NB 5 Fwy x 118 Fwy; https://bit.ly/37VGQVY; #MissionHills; Firefighters were summoned to reports of a rubbish fire on the side of the Northbound 5 Freeway, near the 118 Freeway interchange. Fire spread to the nearby grass and consumed approximately 1.5 acres. This area is fully contained by the surrounding roads, and there are no structures or personal property threatened. It took 22 firefighters 43 minutes (12:58pm) to locate, establish a water supply to the freeway location, and extinguish the burning dry grass on the shoulder at the interchange.
