Agency Assist; INC#0803; 12:35PM; 10424 W Foothill Bl; https://bit.ly/3SLcQTm; #LakeViewTerrace; PRELIM: LAFD ground and air response to assist the City of Los Angeles Department of Animal Services "Specialized Mobile Animal Rescue Team" (SMART) in rescuing a conscious and alert ~1200 pound horse (undetermined breed / gender) trapped up to its chest/neck in what is described as a backyard sinkhole of very soft soil approximately 75 yards from the nearest roadway. The horse is described as being in minimal to moderate distress. Working now with bystanders to comfort and protect the horse, LAFD responders are gingerly removing soil with shovels, as they develop a rescue plan with SMART experts, which may include fitting the horse with a specialized harness to allow an LAFD helicopter hoist rescue. LAFD Public Information Officers Captain Erik Scott and Firefighter David Ortiz are en route, ETA 2:00 PM.
