Update Agency Assist; INC#0803; 02:45PM; 10424 W Foothill Bl; https://bit.ly/3SLcQTm; Lake View Terrace; The swift but delicate rescue effort by 61 LAFD responders continues, working continuously on a rotational basis, in coordination with the City's Department of Animal Services' SMART team, gingerly using hand tools, including shovels and lumber, as well as an LAFD Excavator, to safely and calmly assist "Lucky", a 20 year-old female Paso Fino weighing ~1200 pounds, who remains conscious and alert in minimal to moderate distress, trapped since noon today (in what is believed to be a standing position) up to her chest/neck in very soft backyard soil that became a sinkhole. The first of two or more LAFD lifting straps have been successfully placed beneath her barrel (torso), as the plan continues to use the teamwork of LAFD ground crews - and not an LAFD helicopter, to soundly hoist and guide her free.
