KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1288; 04:55PM; 19609 W Sherman Wy; https://bit.ly/3M8eU53; Reseda; KNOCKDOWN: 29 firefighters extinguished the fire in 22 minutes. The two occupants of the unit escaped uninjured with their dog. Sadly, their cat was located deceased inside the unit. One patient from an adjacent unit is being evaluated (and likely transported) for an injury sustained during a fall while running from the unit. The fire was contained to the unit of origin. Update SUSPICIOUS FIRES MEDIA ADVISORY - ; 02:15PM; #ShermanOaks; In regard to the suspicious fires last night at 13838 W Ventura Boulevard and 4646 N Nagle Avenue, we can now confirm these fires are "intentional acts", and that a suspect has been arrested. Two patients are declining ambulance transport, and *three* others are being taken to area hospitals by LAFD Paramedics for treatment following exposure to smoke. The age, gender and affiliation of the patients, and their circumstances at the time of the fire have yet to be determined. Fatality Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0468; 08:08AM; 8766 N Matilija Av; https://bit.ly/45zlCrW; #PanoramaCity; 34 LAFD Firefighters responded quickly to find fire showing from a 1,535 square foot one-story home. During an aggressive and well-coordinated fire attack, firefighters discovered an adult female - described by residents as mobility impaired, lifeless in a rear bedroom. Beyond medical help, she was determined dead and remains at the scene. The fire was extinguished in just 21 minutes (8:29 AM), and confined within the residence. Three other residents, including one child, who were home at the time of the fire, are now being medically evaluated by LAFD Paramedics at scene for smoke exposure. The presence and functional status of smoke alarms at the time of the fire has yet to be determined. The home, built in 1949, was not equipped with (optional) residential fire sprinklers. Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0092; 01:39AM; 4646 N Nagle Av; https://bit.ly/3Qmwuow; #ShermanOaks; 47 LAFD Firefighters took just 23 minutes (2:02 AM) to fully extinguish heavy fire involving a 1,409 square foot one-story home. No injuries reported. The cause of the fire is considered suspicious - and was among several rubbish/debris/vegetation fires discovered nearby at the same time. The other fires were quickly extinguished by LAFD responders, before they could cause structural damage or injury. Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#1905; 11:19PM; 13838 W Ventura Blvd; https://bit.ly/490sG3u; #ShermanOaks; 49 LAFD Firefighters took just 23 minutes (11:42 PM) to extinguish an outside fire that extended into and heavily involved a 3,000 square foot one-story floral shop within a block-long row of commercial structures. The well-coordinated firefight prevented fire damage to adjacent buildings. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is considered suspicious - and was among a handful of rubbish/debris/vegetation fires that occurred in the general area at the time of the fire. The other fires were quickly extinguished by LAFD responders, before they could cause structural damage or injury.
