The fire damaged one adjacent unit from the unit of origin. Firefighters forced entry from the front and protected the rest of the units in the row. No reported injuries. It took 58 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the fire. Firefighter-paramedics transported one patient to the hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation. During an aggressive roof operation by truck companies, firefighters cut a ventilation strip to help prevent the horizontal spread of fire to adjoining units. LAFD Arson is responding, per protocol, for the investigation. Some resources will be released shortly but crews will be on scene for an extended duration for overhaul and the investigation. Update Structure Fire; INC#1556; 09:37PM; 13281 W Van Nuys Bl; https://bit.ly/3JLg837; Pacoima; After a transitional attack to knock back some of the blaze, firefighters are now resuming an offensive operation and moving in for an interior attack. There were reports of a possible person inside the fire unit but the individual was located outside and unharmed. Part of the roof is burned through over the original fire unit. Truck companies are on the adjacent roofs working to prevent the horizontal spread of fire to the other businesses. Additional crews are performing salvage operations inside the units to protect the contents from smoke/water damage. There are no injuries reported. Heavy fire appears to be in at least two of the commercial units. Firefighters are in the offensive mode but given the current conditions they are moving out of the structure to deploy a transitional attack. They will hit the fire from the exterior to improve conditions for a renewed interior fire attack.
