The homeowner has confirmed the three story residence - undergoing a major renovation, has 28,000 square-feet of floorspace. The flames remain confined within the structure of fire origin (roughly estimated to be as much as a 17,000 square-foot) three-story home under construction in the framing and wrapped stage, surrounded by scaffolding on bare earth. All three vehicle occupants had exited the vehicle and were found uninjured on LAFD arrival. Terrain made slippery by recent rain will require LAFD crews to use a rope system with a basket stretcher to individually hoist the trio an unspecified distance to the roadway above. #LATraffic: In order to perform the rescue safely, Mulholland Drive will be closed in both directions between Sumatra Drive and Beverly Ranch Road until LAFD operations are complete. Unknown duration. Motorists: expect congestion and delay, avoid the immediate area and consider an alternate route.
