KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0591; 12:35PM; 1246 S Hope St; https://bit.ly/3VX08TQ; Downtown; KNOCKDOWN: Over 100 firefighters battled the Major Emergency structure fire for one hour and 37 minutes with no injuries reported. This will be an extended duration overhaul operation and drivers are advised to avoid the area around Hope x Pico in Downtown Los Angeles. Per protocol for this size of an incident, LAFD Arson is on scene for the cause investigation. Firefighters are deploying master streams via ladder pipes and wagon batteries on the fire engines. Crews placed ground ladders to the fire escapes to assist unhoused persons exiting the vacant structure. Firefighters remain in the defensive mode and this will be an extended duration operation. East and West traffic on Pico Bl is closed. Update FORWARD PROGRESS STOPPED Brush Fire; INC#0389; 07:38AM; Grand View Dr; https://bit.ly/4fCULjA; Elysian Park; All forward progress stopped. 35 Firefighters were able to surround the fire with hose lines in steep, heavy vegetation, and confine it to the 1/4 acre affected. Units will remain onscene with the assistance of the LA Park Rangers to monitor and extinguish and hot spots or flare-ups until the fire is deemed extinguished. No injuries reported. Firefighters are aggressively extending hose lines to flank the the slow moving fire. There is no wind, no structures threatened or injuries reported at this time. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0750; 11:27AM; 5282 N Townsend Av; https://bit.ly/4iRadva; Eagle Rock; 45 firefighters worked aggressively to extinguish the fire in 31 minutes. Firefighters were met with excessive storage in the dwelling which hampered entry to the dwelling as well as reaching the room of origin. Preliminary reports stated a possible trapped person inside the structure. Unfortunately, firefighters did find an occupant who had perished and was unable to be revived. No injuries to any additional civilians or LAFD members. Cause under investigation. LAFD Arson and LAPD responding.
