Update Structure Fire; INC#1337; 10:12PM; 917 S San Julian St; https://bit.ly/2HOE8aI; Downtown; KNOCKDOWN: 109 firefighters extinguished the fire in two hours and nine minutes. After a 90 minute defensive battle, crews returned to an interior attack to fully extinguish the flames. One firefighter was transported in fair condition with a heat related illness. LAFD Arson Section is investigating the cause of the fire per protocol for a Greater Alarm fire. LAFD PIO Captain Erik Scott is enroute for media availability. Fire companies will remain on scene through the night, conducting overhaul operations and ensuring no flare ups. This move is needed so they can reach the remaining pockets of fire inaccessible by the master streams from the outside. One firefighter was transported in fair condition for heat related illness. Interior attack made it deep into the structure and was unable to locate fire. It appeared to be overhead, in a possible mezzanine. Due to the deteriorating conditions, all firefighters were pulled out of the building and off the roof to transition the operation. Initial, unconfirmed reports state the building is a fabric business. Firefighters are opening all exterior accesses to get water inside. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0418; 07:48AM; 2651 N Pasadena Av; https://bit.ly/35C3yAo; Lincoln Heights; A garage fire, which spread to two units of a four-plex gathered a response from LAFD (31 firefighters), with assistance from LA Co FD, who found the bulk of the fire in the attic and performed vertical ventilation, in coordination with interior hose lines and salvage operations. The flames were declared out ("knockdown") 41 minutes after the start (8:29 AM). No reported injuries.
