Approximately 95 firefighters extinguished the fire within 41 minutes of the 911 call. Primary and secondary search complete. Department of Building and Safety, Department of Transportation notified and an arson unit was requested by Violet IC. Two firefighters injured and transported to a local hospital. No exposures and the cause is undetermined at this time. The driver of the vehicle (unknown age/gender) is uninjured. The A Line tracks will be shut down in the direction of the incident for an undisclosed amount of time. Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0085; 01:04AM; 1224 S Hope St; https://bit.ly/3WbnXqX; Downtown; 100’ x 150’ two-story row of commercials, previous burn, with fire showing from both the first and second floors. Though first-arriving companies initially entered the building, Incident Command soon ordered a defensive posture — companies backed out, fought fire from outside the structure, and prioritized the protection of neighboring structures. Crews transitioned back to an offensive posture as flames were brought under control. Knockdown declared at 1:54PM; exposures successfully protected and no injuries reported. Assisting on scene are LADOT, LADWP, and LAPD (INC#0292).
