Engineer
Duties of a Engineer
- Driving the apparatus and operating large capacity pumps in firefighting operations
- Assisting in firefighting tasks when the apparatus is not being used
- Performing preventative maintenance of apparatus and equipment
- Conducting fire prevention activities
- Instructing station members in various subjects such as hydraulics, pump theory, and operation of the apparatus
Requirements to test for the position of Engineer
* REQUIREMENTS SUBJECT TO CHANGE - REFER TO CURRENT JOB BULLETIN
- Completion of four years of full-time paid fire suppression experience in the City of Los Angeles Fire Department
And
- A valid California Commercial B driver's license with either the Haz-Mat & Tank Endorsement (X) or the Firefighter Endorsement (RSTR 50)
Or
- A valid out-of-state commercial driver's license (comparable to California Class B) with endorsements comparable to either the California Haz-Mat & Tank Endorsement or the California Firefighter Endorsement and an LAFD approved letter (F-225)

The interview is conducted to determine the candidate's position within their respective band and their preparation for the position of the Engineer
