It took 84 LAFD Firefighters just under one hour to extinguish a greater alarm structure fire in a challenging area of Sherman Oaks.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was notified at 1:40 p.m. on May 25, 2017, of a structure fire at 3859 N. Sherwood Place.  Crews arrived to find a three story hillside home ablaze on all levels. Firefighters quickly worked to extinguish the home and the nearby brush which had begun to catch fire, stopping it in its tracks.

The home was reportedly vacant and there were no injuries to either civilians or firefighters.  Per protocol, LAFD Arson investigators were called to the scene and the cause of the fire remains under active investigation.

This is an important reminder as we head into summer that early detection and fire department notification is the key to keeping fires from spreading.
