LAFD Valor 2022 Awards Ceremony

LOS ANGELES-

The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation's annual VALOR Awards Ceremony honors outstanding service above and beyond the call of duty.

VALOR 2022 was held on December 6, 2022 at Dodger Stadium, to honor members of the Los Angeles Fire Department who earned the Medal of Valor, Medal of Merit, Letters of Special Commendation and other departmental recognition.

VALOR 2022 also honored those who have stood steadfastly alongside the Department in supporting key programs and initiatives that have greatly strengthened our community.

VALOR 2022 brought deserved recognition to:

Engineer Mario Rodriguez: Medal of Valor

For his actions during a botched robbery attempt and his efforts to save the life of an off-duty police officer.

Firefighter/Paramedic Michael Jones: Medal of Merit

For his actions on duty, risking his own safety in saving the life of a person trapped in a structure fire

Firefighter Dajon Johnson: Letter of Special Commendation

For his courageous off-duty actions to protect a civilian in danger, facing down the assailant holding a pistol to his face.

Captain II Michael Fortini and Firefighter Tanner Keeler: Letters of Special Commendation

For their actions when they witnessed a violent vehicle rollover on the freeway as they headed home.
