LAFD Mourns the Death of Captain David T. Moorman
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) is deeply saddened to announce the death of Captain II David T. Moorman, who suffered a medical emergency while off-duty in his home. He was 50-years-old. Capt. Moorman began his career with the LAFD 27-years ago, on October 11, 1989. He was assigned to Fire Station 96, in Chatsworth on the “C” Platoon and leaves behind a loving wife and two children. We are especially grateful for the valiant efforts of the Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD), who responded to Captain Moorman's home and initiated medical care and transport him to a local hospital.
Shortly after his passing on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, Captain Moorman was escorted from Los Robles Medical Center to the Ventura County Coroner’s Office by LAFD Light Force 96, Rescue Ambulance 96, and Command Team Battalion 12. VCFD Firefighters stood atop of freeway overpasses and rendered a salute in his honor as Captain Moorman was escorted below.
The LAFD along with LAFRA, UFLAC, and the IAFF are with Captain Moorman’s family at this time and providing support.
We will miss Captain Moorman greatly, and truly appreciate his nearly three-decades of service to the residents of Los Angeles. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Moorman family.
