LAFD Makes Quick Work of Downtown L.A. Fire
Despite massive flames on their arrival, Los Angeles Firefighters quickly extinguished - without injury, a fire in a vacant downtown building Wednesday evening.
The Los Angeles Fire Department was summoned at 7:47 PM on September 2, 2015 to 800 East 9th Street in the Warehouse District of downtown Los Angeles, where firefighters arrived quickly to find heavy fire showing from a 5,880 square-foot one-story commercial building.
Well coordinated fireground operations by 102 LAFD firefighters under the command of Battalion Chief Raymundo Gomez confined the fire to the vacant building, extinguishing the flames in just 24 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
Fire damage to the 108 year-old structure is still being tabulated. The cause of the greater alarm blaze remains under active investigation.
