The holiday season should be one of family, friends and celebrations. However, the danger of home fires increases during the winter holidays and the Los Angeles Fire Department does not want anyone to experience the trauma of a destructive fire in their home.

Fires caused by candles, portable heaters and cooking are the primary drivers of home fires during December and January.

Following some very basic safety tips can help prevent these potential hazards from turning into life threatening disasters:
