Deadly Plane Crash in Lake Balboa

Just after 3 PM on September 11, 2020, LAFD responded to an aircraft down at the 7000 block of Hayvenhurst Ave in Lake Balboa. Firefighters arrived to find a single-engine, fixed-wing aircraft down in a parking lot just west of Van Nuys airport. Firefighters pulled hose lines and quickly extinguished the burning wreckage. Two people were found dead in the rubble. There was no damage to nearby structures. Three vehicles suffered minor damage.
