Update FATALITY Cliff Rescue, San Pedro; INC#0493; 08:41AM; 1 Point Fermin; https://bit.ly/3nw6hUE; San Pedro; LAFD rescue divers made patient contact on the beach below the Point Fermin Bluffs and has determined the male patient (unknown age) is deceased and beyond medical help. The operation is now transitioning to a body recovery, utilizing LAFD Air Ops in a hoist operation. The decedent will be respectfully relocated to a predetermined location for LAPD / LA County Medical Examiner to transfer to their care. Update Structure Fire; INC#0222; 03:17AM; 315 N Vermont Av; https://bit.ly/4sk0yAW; East Hollywood; This is now a Greater Emergency status incident with over 66 firefighters assigned. The 4 story building is a boarded-up apartment building with 3 residential stories over commercial occupancies on the 1st floor. This structure has been the site of a previous burn and is very hazardous for firefighters to fight the fire from the interior. In a defensive posture, LAFD is using ladder pipes (large diameter hose lines deployed from the top of extended aerial ladders) and master stream operations (large diameter hand held hose lines) from outside of the structure to apply water. Crews are making progress with no injuries reported.
