To assure the safety of both victims and responders, the Incident Commander is formally requesting ALL media helicopters to be no closer than one mile from the intersection of Figueroa Street and Lomita Boulevard. No injuries have been confirmed. More than 100 LAFD responders are assigned, including LAFD Urban Search and Rescue team members specially trained, certified and equipped to handle confined space tunnel rescues. No injury. No structures involved. No evacuation. An LAFD UAS (drone) unit will provide aerial reconnaissance and command support with thermal imagery, as ground crews continue to mop up hot spots this afternoon. ROAD CLOSURE: San Ysidro Road will remain closed to through traffic in both directions between Summitridge Drive and Tower Road until LAFD operations are complete. Update #SpurFire Brush Fire; INC#0902; 02:10PM; 1600 N San Ysidro Dr; https://bit.ly/3U0Z2Vw; #BeverlyCrest; LAFD ground and air crews have been joined by BHFD in now stopping forward progress of the fire via a well-coordinated direct attack on flames that have thus far consumed less than one (1) acre of light-to-medium grass and brush in steep terrain between homes on San Ysidro Drive and Ferrari Drive. No structure damage. No evacuation. Crews are continuing to battle hot spots and achieve full containment of the fire.
