Hiker Rescue; INC#1350; 05:59PM; Mt Lukens Rd; https://bit.ly/4cJw6ZK; #Tujunga; LAFD air resources have located a hiker and his three dogs in a remote location on the north side of Mt. Lukens -- the hiker had called 911 for aid just before losing his cellular connection. An LAFD helicopter lowered a paramedic to assess the 61-year-old male, who was dehydrated and unable to walk out of the location under his own power. Firefighters proceeded in offensive mode -- breaching entrances to fight fire and search for victims, and ascending to the roof to ventilate pressurized smoke and heat. Full extinguishment accomplished in 35 minutes with 37 firefighters on-scene. Update KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#1207; 05:12PM; 1042 W 62nd St; https://bit.ly/3XMfTig; #Vermont-Slauson; 76 firefighters were able to extinguish this tricky fire in 41 minutes. Flames from a power pole initially extended into an outside storage building, before also extending to a nearby house. Crews maintained an offensive posture against the flames, aggressively fighting fire and prioritizing the search for any victims. No injuries were reported.
