Update Traffic Collision; INC#2033; 08:58PM; 6840 N Kester Av; https://bit.ly/3IVhFWs; #VanNuys; Patient was a 75 year-old male, the driver and sole occupant of sedan that struck the exterior wall of and entered one first floor unit of a 18,333 square foot two-story 20-unit apartment building. No fire. No entrapment. The patient sustained an arm injury, and was transported by LAFD Paramedics to a regional trauma center in fair condition. No other injuries reported. LA Dept of Building & Safety is on site evaluating the structure. ADVISORY - LA CITY ALERT; 07:23PM; Oro Vista Av at Eby Canyon Rd; http://bit.ly/3KEacw5; #Sunland #RiverwoodRanch; The current rainstorm has caused localized flooding along the northern portion of Oro Vista Avenue in Sunland, near Eby Canyon Road. Hazardous road conditions now exist within the Riverwood community north of Big Tujunga Canyon Road at the Arizona Crossing. City agencies are working to resolve the issue, but intermittent rain showers continue. Complete - River Rescue; INC#0520; 07:10AM; 11201 N Big Tujunga Canyon Rd; https://bit.ly/3Zn0DWm; #Sunland; During a morning of extreme winter weather with cold, heavy rain and strong winds, a 61 year-old adult male was hoisted aboard a hovering LAFD rescue helicopter, and safely brought to nearby land, where he is now being medically treated by LAFD Paramedics for the affects of hypothermia. Determined to be the only victim, he will soon be transported by LAFD ambulance to an area hospital. The man (undetermined if homeless) states he was driving his van within the vast natural expanse of the Tujunga Wash at about midnight, when the vehicle (LAFD has not seen) was struck and disabled by a falling tree. Update Helicopter Rescue; INC#2536; 12:46AM; 15700 W Burbank Bl; https://bit.ly/3aPmUFx; #SepulvedaBasin; *Updated Patient Count* During a night of extreme winter weather with cold, heavy, wind-driven rain, LAFD ground and air responders came to the aid of four homeless adults (*3 males and 1 female*), as well as *four dogs and one cat* who were stranded in a remote area of land within the heavily flooded Sepulveda Flood Control Basin. An LAFD Helicopter landed to safely rescue the four adults and 5 pet animals, transferring them all directly to the LAFD Air Operations facility at Van Nuys Airport, where they were medically evaluated by LAFD Paramedics. Two of the adults (no further details) were determined to be suffering from hypothermia and were transported to an area hospital. The two remaining adults declined offered ambulance transportation, and took possession of the five animals, which appeared uninjured.
