The chemical is not toxic to inhale, however can present a hazard if it displaces oxygen in an enclosed area. Firefighters will isolate the hazard and deny entry to the area as a safety measure. Hazardous Materials specialists are on scene to assist with stopping the leak and ventilating the area. Cliff Rescue 04/04/2024 INC#0327

Cliff Rescue; INC#0327; 07:41AM; 3730 S Roxbury St; https://bit.ly/3xonSH4; #SanPedro; Firefighters responded by land, air, and sea to reports of a person in need of a cliff rescue. Firefighters arrived and, upon assessing the patient at the bottom of the Point Fermin cliffs, determined they were deceased. Firefighters are initiating a body recovery operation for the deceased person. Age/gender/circumstances are unknown at this time. Crews are working to secure the body and determine the safest method of bringing it up. LAPD is responding for the investigation. LA County Medical Examiner will determine identity and cause of death. Any further questions = LAPD and LA County Medical Examiner. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire 04/03/2024 INC#1636

KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1636; 09:58PM; 14522 W Gault St; https://bit.ly/4aobu8G; #VanNuys; Firefighters found fire in one unit of a (approximately 10-unit) two-story garden-style residential condos/townhomes with fire on the first floor of one unit. Crews made access to the unit and extended hose lines through tight spaces among excessive storage to access the fire. Ultimately, it took 30 firefighters 15 minutes to access, confine, and fully extinguish the fire, successfully protecting adjacent units from the nearby flames. No reported injuries. Crews deployed hose lines to the rear of the home, where two bedrooms were also on fire. Ultimately, it took 32 firefighters 19 minutes to access, confine, and fully extinguish the flames. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire 04/03/2024 INC#1034

KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1034; 03:36PM; 4182 S Western Av; https://bit.ly/3J59bLu; #VermontSquare; Firefighters responded to a two-story *commercial building* with fire showing from the rear. Firefighters made access through the alley in the back to find one vehicle engulfed in flames in the first-floor carport (tucked beneath the second floor) and fire spreading up into the building. Firefighters deployed hose lines to attack the flames. Ultimately, it took 48 firefighters 23 minutes to access, confine, and fully extinguish the flames. No occupants were found on scene. Firefighters and Paramedics responded to a medical call for service at or near USC and found one adult male patient with burn injuries that had attempted to drive himself to the hospital after injuries from the Western Avenue structure fire (Medical Response - LAFD Inc# 1071). LAFD transported the man to the hospital. LAFD Fire Investigators are actively investigating the cause of the fire.
