Update KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#1661; 01:09AM; 1846 E 57th St; https://bit.ly/3ui6Pju; Central-Alameda; The commercial building engulfed in flames threatened nearby structures on three sides. Firefighters strategically positioned themselves to defend the surrounding buildings and deluged the well-involved structure from the exterior. It took 67 LAFD firefighters 72 minutes to eliminate the flames. Sadly, one person perished in the blaze. The cause of the fire and circumstances surrounding the fatality are under active investigation. Hiker Rescue; INC#1317; 07:06PM; 1900 N Runyon Canyon Rd; https://bit.ly/2PKZnOK; Hollywood Hills West; LAFD crews located three uninjured hikers (age/gender=18M, 11M, 8F) and their dog in a remote area of Runyon Canyon, who were unable to make it up a steep slope. Firefighters have set up a low angle rope rescue with assistance from pulleys providing a mechanical advantage to assist these hikers up the slope safely. LAFD Air Ops is standing by with their Nightsun® (high-intensity searchlight) to assist with visibility as the evening light fades. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to the above-ground fire unit and extinguished the flames in 13 minutes (3:21PM), thereby protecting the remaining uninvolved units in the residential dwelling. No reported injuries.
