Update Structure Fire Final 07/27/2020 INC#1433

Update Final Structure Fire; INC#1433; 11:00PM; 2994 W Pico Bl; https://bit.ly/30RSCMG; Harvard Heights; A fire in one 2nd floor unit at the rear of the two-story structure extended down an interior hallway to damage a unit at the front of the building, briefly trapping 3 civilian adult residents at windows and balconies, who were rescued by LAFD responders with ground ladders. The three civilians were in fair condition after sustaining smoke exposure, with two accepting offered ambulance transport to the hospital, and the other declining further medical care. One LAFD firefighter sustained a minor-to-moderate hand injury during the fierce fire attack, and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. No other injuries were reported. The presence and functional status of required smoke alarms at the time of the fire could not be immediately determined. The building was not equipped with optional residential fire sprinklers. Four families, including an undetermined number of adults and children, were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross was summoned to coordinate their immediate needs. Update Knockdown Structure Fire; INC#1433; 10:03PM; 2994 W Pico Bl; https://bit.ly/30RSCMG; Harvard Heights; LAFD crews arrived quickly to find flames in one or more units on the 2nd floor of a 5,184 square-foot 2-story residential over commercial building. Those firefighters immediately utilized three separate ground ladders to affect the rescue of three persons stranded in peril at windows and balconies of the 107 year-old structure, filled with smoke, as their colleagues mounted a swift offensive interior attack on the flames with handlines. The first 30 arriving LAFD personnel extinguished the flames in just 22 minutes. Spill (Minor); INC#0725; 12:53PM; 1405 W 240th St; https://bit.ly/3jK9D3Z; Harbor City; As many as 25 gallons of apparent crude oil was discovered seeping from a subterranean pipeline, and has been fully contained on-site in a parking lot by firefighters using shovels of dirt. LAFD Hazmat experts were dispatched as a precaution. No specific or off-site hazard identified. No incident related illness or injury has been reported. There is no anticipated need for evacuation or street closure.
