With 137 LAFD Firefighters now assigned in defensive firefighting operations, this fire has escalated to Major Emergency status, with as many as three civilian patients currently being evaluated for injury (at least one reported to be burned). No evacuation. #LATraffic: Canoga Avenue will remain closed between Roscoe Boulevard and Parthenia Street until LAFD operations are complete, unknown duration. Motorists, expect congestion and delay, avoid the immediate area and consider an alternate route. Detours are readily available. Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0791; 12:18PM; 8423 N Canoga Av; https://bit.ly/3pdqy44; Canoga Park; PRELIM: LAFD Firefighter/Paramedics returning from an emergency in their ambulance were first to notice and report a well developed structure fire in a 50' x 100' one-story commercial building, that appears to be a marijuana grow operation. Explosions noted from within, and nearby vehicles threatened. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0791; 12:56PM; 8901 N Eton Av; https://bit.ly/3Am5uer; Canoga Park; Twenty-four firefighters confined the flames to the cooking area (and just one kitchen wall) of a mobile home, extinguishing the fire in 21 minutes. Both occupants evacuated safely (approx 98-year-old female and her caregiver). The female resident was evaluated on scene by paramedics as a precaution, but was without medical complaint. She chose to remain at home with her caregiver. The cause of the fire appears to be cooking-related. LAFD HazMat team is in the building evacuating occupants (out of an abundance of precaution) while additional HazMat members check the level of the chlorine in the pool area to ensure there is no hazard. Update Structure Fire; INC#0128; 05:30AM; 20942 W Gresham St; https://bit.ly/3vYoPAJ; Canoga Park; In the two-plus hours following this fire's extinguishment, a total of nine persons (8 adults, 1 infant) came forward with subjective concerns of breathing difficulty. All nine were taken to area hospitals by LAFD ambulance in fair condition for further medical examination.
