The first 42 firefighters extinguished flames in both homes in 36 minutes. Thankfully, all occupants were able to evacuate safely and no injuries were reported. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0178; 04:07AM; 6900 S Knowlton Pl; https://bit.ly/3wVn7CR; Westchester; The fire appeared to have originated with a dryer in a second-floor laundry room of the two-story apartment building. 26 firefighters worked to contain the flames to the room-of-origin, extinguishing the fire in 19 minutes. Occupants sheltered in place to avoid any smoke hazard. No reported injuries. Rescuers on the ground hiked in to make initial patient contact and initiate care, while air support was en route. LAFD Air Ops arrived from Van Nuys Airport shortly after to hoist and transport the patient in moderate condition to a local hospital. LAFD ground crews have hiked to the patient and are providing on-site medical care.
