Though information from the 9-1-1 caller was limited, an LAFD Rescue Helicopter was able to find the man and lower an LAFD Flight Paramedic to begin initial care and injury stabilization. During the investigation, they encountered someone who reported hearing an explosion. They located an apartment with a lithium-ion battery which had been charged and it 'exploded' with the fire extinguished by automatic fire sprinklers. Additional resources requested to assist with water removal from multiple units (number unknown). One patient is being evaluated for possible non-life threatening burn injury. Building type is updated: it is a garage to the rear of a single family dwelling and it has a small, attached occupancy. An adult male was believed to be in the unit and was unaccounted for upon fire extinguishment. Due to the amount of storage, it took a significant amount of overhaul to permit a search of the occupancy.
