No structures damaged and no injuries reported. Currently, Southbound traffic on N Laurel Canyon is closed at Kirkwood. LA Dept of Building and Safety (LADBS) is responding and will make the determination if full closure is required. The unit of origin was the 3rd unit in the row and the fire ultimately affected three units. Firefighter/paramedics are transporting a 46yo male patient in unknown condition. Knockdown - Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#1181; 06:24PM; 1306 N Highland Av; https://bit.ly/3ZamV0o; #Hollywood; It took the combined effort of 124 LAFD Firefighters a little more than two hours in largely defensive firefighting operations to fully extinguish intense flames that destroyed an AutoZone automotive parts store, and caused heavy damage to a pair of adjoining restaurants (Fat Sal's Deli, and Sushi Ajito) in an L-shaped one-story strip mall. No injuries reported. Though initial 9-1-1 callers described an "explosive fire" they believed to have involved a "battery" within the automotive parts store, the specific cause of the fire remains the focus of an active Fire Department investigation. #LATraffic: Full closure of northbound and southbound Highland Avenue between DeLongpre Avenue and Lexington Avenue, as well as a full closure of eastbound and westbound Fountain Avenue at Highland Avenue will continue until LAFD operations are complete. Update Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#1181; 05:00PM; 1306 N Highland Av; https://bit.ly/3ZamV0o; #Hollywood; After a fierce nearly 30 minute offense against intense flames, the 124 assigned LAFD Firefighters have transitioned to a defensive firefight in what is now categorized as a "Major Emergency" fire, as they battle heavy fire that has led to structural compromise of the automotive parts store, one of three businesses in the L-shaped one-story strip mall. The other businesses being a delicatessen and a sushi restaurant.
