There was no formal evacuation and no injury. The Fire Department is unaware of any impact on LAX operations. LAFD crews are using Fire Department portable ventilation fans to remove a light haze and slight smoke odor in the immediate area only. A rubbish fire in the alley exposed electrical wires and a transformer, as well as the apartment building. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0523; 11:45AM; 3147 N Hollyridge Dr; http://bit.ly/2VcG0wp; Hollywood Hills; 77 FF in 72 min. Firefighters found a descending hillside home with fire burning from the lower levels up to the street level. Narrow streets and steep grades presented challenges with getting apparatus and equipment to the address. Firefighters began battling the fire from the exterior as they transitioned to an interior fire attack. Teams on the roof coordinated cutting holes in the roof to ventilate the home as hose lines were deployed inside. The cause of the fire remains under active investigation.
