Update Debris Flow 02/28/2023 INC#0432

Update Debris Flow; INC#0432; 09:30AM; 13150 W Mulholland Dr; https://bit.ly/3IXP6HI; #BeverlyCrest; LAFD Firefighters discovered one of several terraced retaining walls on a one-third acre residential property gave way, causing mud to cascade downhill, away from a 2,415 square-foot home, and onto nearby Mulholland Drive. There was no entrapment and no injuries have been reported. As the damaged retaining wall was 50' downhill from the residence, the home was not directly damaged. As a precaution, an elder male resident and his caretaker have been calmly evacuated from the premises, and are temporarily staying with a neighbor. #LATRraffic: Because the debris flow is threatening a power pole and mud remains on Mulholland Drive, that mountain top thoroughfare will remain fully closed between Coldwater Canyon Avenue (on the east) and Deep Canyon Drive (on the west) until L.A. City agencies can comprehensively assess and address the situation. Motorists should expect congestion, avoid the immediate area and monitor traffic reports on news radio. Though there has been strong rainstorm activity in the area, the Fire Department cannot determine the specific cause of the debris flow. LAFD Public Information Officer Captain Erik Scott is en route to assist the media, with an ETA of 10:00 AM.; FS 108; Batt 14; Valley Bureau; Council District 5; AO1 AO2 BC10 BC14 E108 E287 E288 E89 E90 E99 EM14 H3 H4 HA3 HA4 HR3 PI1 RA878 RA88 RA889 RA89 RA99 SC1 SQ87 SW88 T87 T88 UA2 UR88 UR89; CH8; 17; Brian Humphrey
